“The Singapore Zoo is very well done. I remember there you can have breakfast with an orangutan! So they bring out an orangutan and you’re face-to-face with him — which is an astonishing thing. Getting close up to these wild animals is just amazing, especially the greater apes like chimpanzees and orangutans… It stays with you. I still remember that from years ago, long before I worked on Life of Pi, I was only in my twenties, but I still remember that breakfast.”
