“The scariest runway show I’ve ever been to was one by the designer Martin Margiela back in the early nineties. It was held in a disused metro station in Paris. We had to stand on the stairs and the models would walk down past us. The thing is that they’d illuminated the whole place with candles and the models had all these long flowing dresses on and long hair — it looked like a disaster waiting to happen! A fireball moment! That feeling of fear but exposure to something exciting sticks in my mind: it was terrifying and beautiful at the same time...”
