“The town that I’m from in Wales is nihilistic. There’s not a whole lot going on. It’s a very beautiful place, but there’s nothing for kids to do. Cinema definitely for me when I was younger, it was escapism, complete escapism. I remember watching King of Comedy, that’s one of my favorite films. I love that movie so much. There was one cinema in Nantgarw called Showcase Cinema that I loved. There was a bowling place next to it. It’s still there now. It’s just like an old ’80s John Hughes kind of cinema, very stuck in its ways but it’s kind of cool. I used to go there with my friends... My first date was there!”
