“I love how you can wander in off the streets of Paris and Shakespeare & Co. is a kind of haven—warm and welcoming, with books everywhere and lots of quiet corners. The staff is amazing and kind. You can sit for hours reading and feel at home because everyone else is doing that, too. They have a beautiful reading series out in front of the shop on summer nights across from Notre Dame, while the church bells ring in the background. We’re fortunate to be able to be part of that series each summer through NYU’s Writers in Paris program – it’s the highlight of my year. And now they’ve just opened a charming café in the adjacent space.”
